Meet My New Friends

“The friend of my friend is my friend.” (African proverb)

I would like to give you the chance to meet some of the amazing brothers and sisters I met during my travels in Nigeria. As Muslim extremists work to stamp out Christianity, these Christians march on the front lines to proclaim God’s gift of eternal life.

Below you will find a brief description of four missionaries partnering with Worldlink to combat Islam in northern Nigeria. These faithful servants, along with twenty others, mark the beginning of Worldlink’s FOCUS Nigeria initiative: a strategic effort to resist the surge of Islam that is threatening to take over one of the most powerful and influential countries in Africa.

aderonkeAderonke Adelaja is a missionary in predominantly Islamic Bauchi State. God has given her a yearning to befriend, disciple, and counsel young people. Her heart particularly goes out to girls because of her experiences and struggles growing up..

Gabriel Gberindyer served as a pastor before his call to student ministry about ten years ago. He has been overseeing a large school ministry in the Nasarawa Area. He serves as a gifted teacher, preaching God’s Word effectively and giving motivational speeches.

Success Udeoba has been serving as a missionary in Zamfara State for seven years. He zealously shares his faith and empowers students to do the same in the face of a widely Islamic society. He also works hard to make Christian literature and Bible study materials available to students.

James Okpenge serves in Yobe State training Christian leaders as well as preaching, discipling and evangelizing in the community. He also serves as a supervisor of the Yobe Area, overlooking three states in which Christians suffer oppression under Islamic Law (Bauchi, Yobe, and Borno).

Do you recall my first email when I was kneeling beside the woman, dying in the road? The refrain in my head since then has been, “I could have done more. I could have done more to help that woman.”

These brothers and sisters you just met could do more as well. Not because they are paralyzed by fear, but because they are lacking necessary resources. With a few more materials, a little more money, a little more prayer, they can go farther, reach more people, and see more souls turn to Christ. I do not want to feel the way I felt on that road ever again. I want to know that I am doing everything I can to reach more people with God’s good news. Perhaps you feel the same way, too.

Will you partner with one of the 24 native missionaries waiting for support in Nigeria? They need $100 per month. Could you give all or part of that each month? If you do, 100% of your gift will go to your missionary partner to reach people for Christ in one of the most challenging spiritual environments in all of Africa.

What will you get out of this? The satisfaction of being God’s agent in saving the lost, comforting the afflicted, encouraging the persecuted, and equipping brothers and sisters in Christ to stand firmly against Islam’s growth.

Thank you,
