FOCUS Initiative

Called by God to address this situation, Worldlink is responding with the FOCUS India program.  Worldlink’s strategy has always been to come alongside local Christians in the least reached areas.  In 2009 the decision was made to concentrate new efforts in strategically important areas.  FOCUS India is one result of that decision.

Worldlink plans to add more than 50 new local partners from 6 different Indian organizations by June 2010.

These evangelists and church planters serve primarily in remote rural areas, carrying the gospel to unreached people groups.  Many villages they enter have never even  heard the name of Jesus, and have no idea who the true God is who loves them.

Missiologists will tell you there are 283 unreached people (<5% Christian adherents of any type) groups living within India’s borders.  The estimated population of these groups is over 796,359,000 people.

Another 1,907 people groups are listed as having an unknown—meaning very small at best—percentage of believers, with 254,986,000 people in the groups.  (www.joshuaproject.net)

All told, there are over 2,100 people groups and 1 billion people who have no significant understanding  of the gospel or opportunity to respond in India.
