A Brief Reminder of Why We are Doing What We Do!

As we close our year and open another there is a natural opportunity to evaluate what we are doing and recommit to what God is calling us to do. With that in mind here is a brief reminder of why we are doing what we do.

1. Why Native Missionaries?

Worldlink’s Premise is simple. After 200 years of serious and successful Western missionary efforts, there are believers in most corners of the world with the gifts, talents, and desire to reach the rest of their country with the good news of Jesus Christ.

These brothers and sisters have numerous and significant advantages over the traditional model of western missionaries. (Sending a westerner, to another country for frontline ministry.)

  • They know the language.
  • They know the culture – customs, foods, idioms, etc.
  • They look like the people they are trying to reach.
  • They have an innate ability to communicate the gospel in the local context – because it is their context.
  • They have access to regions closed to North American missionary activity.
  • They can start serving immediately, since they do not need two years to raise funds and learn a foreign culture and language.
  • They have no need to leave every few years to report and raise more funds in North America. (All Worldlink’s partners send reports 4 times a year, are monitored by a regional board, and are accountable to local leadership.)
  • They can be fully supported for pennies on the dollar compared to traditional missionaries, which means many more of them can be released into ministry.

Put simply, there are tens of thousands of native missionaries waiting to serve; all they need is a little training and a little support.  Native missionaries comprise the greatest workforce for global Christian outreach.

2. Howhow-worldlink-works does Worldlink Work?

Selection – With decades of experience in ministry and diverse networks of relationships, Worldlink’s International Office and Regional Coordinators have access to organizations and individuals of high Christian character throughout the world.  From these relationships, we are able to indentify deeply passionate, highly qualified, and clearly called native Christian evangelists and church planters who can work in their own countries.  Each Worldlink native missionary partner:

  • serves in areas least penetrated by the gospel
  • holds evangelism and discipleship as core goals
  • is accountable to indigenous leadership
  • serves for about $30-$250 per month
  • works in an area where the local financial support from the Body of Christ simply cannot support even a very modest lifestyle for Christian workers

Our selection network and process works well and has enabled Worldlink to develop native missionary partners in 27 countries around the world.

Training – While most of our partners receive training through local organizations, Worldlink strives to provide resources for additional training for spiritual grounding and effectiveness in ministry.  Ideally this takes place at a local or regional level, where the content and context is most helpful.

Worldlink is also involved in helping to provide literature and other study materials to international partners by funding purchases of printed resources in local languages.

Supporting – The areas where our international partners serve have very limited financial resources or very limited Christian presence, often both.  Dedicated brothers and sisters find it impossible to engage in evangelism, pioneer church planting or other missionary service without some measure of outside support.

Worldlink provides the modest amount needed to free a called, gifted, and trained Christian to serve full time instead of working another 40-60 hour a week job to feed his or her family.  Usually this amount is $100/mo or less.  Worldlink does encourage the development of local support, especially in church planting situations, as this creates local ownership of and momentum for the work.

3. How can You Help?

Pray — Petition God to strengthen and protect His people serving in very difficult areas.  Sign up to receive regular Prayerlink emails with updates on native missionaries.

Partner — Partnerships are the backbone of Worldlink's efforts.  We need people like you to give monthly to support more and more individual native missionaries.  Without financial partners, the work will not be done. (100% of your missionary support goes tonative-missionaries-liberia native missionaries.)

Donate — Support the Resource Fund.  This fund will be used to help with costs for training, materials, administration, travel needs, and the purchase of needed equipment.  The Resource Fund is what allows Worldlink to transfer 100% of native missionary support to the field

Advocate — Tell people about the unique, strategic advantages of partnering with native missionaries. To fulfill the Great Commission. Please contact our office for more information on becoming a Worldlink Advocate.
