Leadership snapshots from across the globe

global-leadershipStrategic leaders are having significant impact in some of the world’s most challenging places.

Through the leading of the Holy Spirit, Worldlink’s indigenous missionary partners are taking full advantage of opportunities to train volunteers and other believers by “equipping the saints for the work of the ministry.” (Ephesians 4:12)

Here are just a few representative examples from around the world:

Video: Birhanu Solomon - Discipling Student Leaders in Ethiopia

Birhanu’s goal every day is to pour himself into student leaders who will in turn pour their energies into reaching their classmates.

This strategy is remarkably effective.  His reports show an average of nearly 100 students coming to Christ every month.  These students are not left alone but are discipled through the programs, leaders, and church partnerships Birhanu has set in place in schools all around the capital city, Addis Ababa.

The video above will give you a first hand account from one student leader.  Menguiste Abera is now the head of all student ministries for the Mennonite Church in Ethiopia.

Joe and Gloria: Giving Christians essential skills to evangelize their own villages in Colombia

Before taking over the leadership of Worldlink’s partner organization, Joe and Gloria were actively volunteering with the ministry. Joe left
his successful position as a hospital administrator to follow God’s call to share the gospel in an impoverished community.

Joe and Gloria are evangelizing in the slum of Bajo San Felipe, Colombia. Where they are leading educational programs, teaching single moms to feed and care for their children, helping people escape addictions and helping other marginalized members of society.

Emmaus Bandekile:  Influencing the influencers in Tanzania

For several years Emmaus had a dream of forming a Christian Teacher’s Fellowship.  This strategic group would lead both students and teachers in discipleship and the formation of Bible study groups.  In 2007 this became a reality with over 150 teachers attending the inaugural event. The numbers have been growing ever since.

The success of this group encouraged Emmaus to make another significant step, the formation of a Media Fellowship.  This group is made up of professionals primarily in the print, television, and radio news fields.

Both fellowships are centered in Dar es Salaam, the capital and largest city.  This means Emmaus and the members can have the maximum impact on the country and their peers.

Mr. Yas & Mr Gar:  Reaching People in the Remote and Untouched Regions of Indonesia

Mr. Yas & Mr Gar are two Indonesian church planters with The Sundanese Christian Fellowship or SCF. SCF is a nationally run
church planting organization that recruits seminary graduates, trains them in contextual ministry and then places them in teams
to plant churches among a large unreached people group of more than 35 million people.

In 2010 this team received a new teammate and together they use their agricultural and business skills to establish themselves in very remote and untouched parts of the province. They spend most of their time building relationship with people sharing the Gospel and leading small groups.
