History

I saw many brothers and sisters who would love to respond to God's call to ministry, but who could not for the lack of resources. All they need are a few dollars a day to support themselves and their families, a bicycle, some books, or some of the training materials that are plentiful in other parts of God's world. During this time, the Lord birthed an idea that wouldn't go away. Someone needed to be a LINK between those who wanted to serve and those who could help them. - Jack Nelson, 2002

Prior to founding Worldlink in 2002, Jack spent 10 years traveling throughout the world as a speaker and trainer with Scripture Union.  Time and time again Jack met gifted, called, and committed Christians wanting to serve the Lord in their own contexts but struggling to meet their basic needs.  The Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ thwarted by no more than one, two, or even three dollars a day --- this unsettling fact stayed with Jack.  It took root in his soul, and with the call of the Holy Spirit (and his wife’s gentle prodding), he stepped out in faith to form the LINK that was needed.

Jack was joined by a team of volunteers, donors, and prayer supporters who were also inspired by the possibilities of this vision.

Over the next few years, paperwork was completed, relationships were formed, and the LINK moved from vision to reality.

  • 2002 – Worldlink founded.  First international partners received funds (Latin America and Liberia).
  • 2005 – Africa expansion.  15 new partners added.  Office staff expanded with the addition of Peter and Becky Bowersox.
  • 2006 – First Asian partnerships launched (Pakistan).  Latin America and Africa Regions continued to expand in numbers and scope of ministries.
  • 2007 – Asia expansion.  Significant numbers of partners added in Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Indonesia.  Office administrator joined International Office staff.  Prayerlink became the vehicle of choice to communicate up to date information to supporters.
  • 2008 – Rev. Olaniyi Daramola became the Africa Coordinator, bumping Peter Bowersox to the role of Project Manager and “chief storyteller.”
  • 2009 – Worldlink established three areas of strategic emphasis – Focus India, Focus Congo, Focus Nigeria.  Chuck St. Hilaire joined the International Office as Director of Finance and Administration.
  • 2010 – New website launched.
